Years Child Care was setup for infants to three-year-olds to help each child
with their development and prepare for preschool.
DAILY
ACTIVITIES:
Iva
planed the weekly activities by including fine/large motor skills, music
appreciation, language skills, counting skills, recognizing letters and
numbers, and art for special occasions.
Daily
activities as a group was and not limited to:
Language
Development: Every
morning, Iva encouraged development of language skills by going over pictured
flashcards, color recognition, as well as a focus on the letter and number of the week.(Letters and numbers was introduced to the older toddler group) She also read books from her library collection.
For
Indoor play
infants: At this age infants absorb
from watching and listening as well as using their sense of touch and taste by
mouthing toys. Many times Iva would include him/her during music activities, sit
on Iva's lap during book reading with the group, and even one-on-one to engage
for language development. Iva encouraged tummy time and explore time.
ages
1 to 3:
blocks, toys that connect, puzzles, pegs & peg boards, dancing to music,
musical instruments, musical pillows, dress up, pillow mountain, I Spy books,
games like tunnel play, scarf dancing, body/animal yoga, bowling, flashlight
chase, ball chase, parachute play, as well as board games like Blue's Clues,
Twister, Memory Match, and Lady Bug Letters to name a few.
Art Projects: On special occasions, Iva did an art project with the children. By using crayons, paint,
paintbrushes, glue, construction paper, tissue paper, yarn or string, cotton, stickers,
toddler size scissors (with help) etc.
For
Backyard Outdoor play: (weather permitting-twice a week) Depending on the age group we
played on outdoor equipment, blew bubbles, played with balls, water paint, sensory
tables for sand, beans, rice, etc. Note: all children went outside together with
provider.
This was in order to keep an eye on all.
